A whole mountain of things to do

In Aosta Valley you can do something special every day.
In the same day you may visit a medieval castle and the largest European casino, shopping in Aosta, Courmayeur or Cervinia and admiring wonderful sights on mountains and uncontaminated nature, making you think of the first days of creation.
And the setting of Le Coffret, just in the centre of the Valley and very close to the highway, will make all this very easy to reach and near at hand.

Nature

You do not need to be an expert mountain-climber to be able to discover Aosta Valley natural wonders. In Saint-Marcel, the protected wetlands area Les Iles has many small lakes in a river landscape where you can observe a large number migratory and nesting species of birds.
The Astronomical Observatory in Saint-Barthélemy, with its minimal light pollution (one of the lowest in Italy), will let you have an excellent vision of the stars.

Events

On 30th and 31st January, the Saint Ours fair is a magical moment: starting more than 1000 years ago, it celebrates craftmanship and the typical regional crafts in an overwhelming festivity atmosphere in Aosta city centre.

Castles

The most famous Aosta Valley castles are just a step away from Le Coffret: Fénis, the most typical feudal castle, with its towers and battlement walls; Issogne, with a wide range of frescos reproducing everyday life scenes from Middle Age and Renaissance; Verrès, mighty cubical building on the rocks.

Tastings

Raw ham produced by Saint-Marcel ham factory and spirits produced in La Valdotaine distillery only represent the beginning of a tour through Aosta Valley typical savours, which of course include the original Fontina DOP cheese and the wines trail. We will be happy to suggest some tasty restaurants in the neighbourhood.

To visit

The ancient Saint-Marcel mines are open for visitors. Plout Notre Dame de Tout Pouvoir, the Sanctuary dedicated to Mary, one of the most worshipped in Aosta Valley, is just 4 km away from Le Coffret.

Winter sports

Pila, one of the most important ski resorts in Aosta Valley, with its 70 km long slopes, can be reached through the lifts which are just 8 kilometers away from Le Coffret.
Snowboard, ski touring, heliski, off-piste skiing with expert alpine guides and masters of skiing: with the highest, most famous and most beautiful mountains in the Alps, winter sports have no limits in Aosta Valley. And for those preferring more peaceful emotions, nordic skiing and snowshoes rides are the choice.

Summer sports

Close to Le Coffret you can find a horse riding centre, golf driving range, where you may have the opportunity to see Rean Gianmaria Trinchero, young italian champion training, trekkingmountain bike and downhillrafting on Dora Baltea river.
