In Saint-Marcel, the protected wetlands area Les Iles has many small lakes in a river landscape where you can observe a large number migratory and nesting species of birds.<br \/>\nThe Astronomical Observatory in Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy, with its minimal light pollution (one of the lowest in Italy), will let you have an excellent vision of the stars.<\/p>\n<h2>Events<\/h2>\n<p>On 30th and 31st January, the\u00a0<strong>Saint Ours fair<\/strong>\u00a0is a magical moment: starting more than 1000 years ago, it celebrates craftmanship and the typical regional crafts in an overwhelming festivity atmosphere in Aosta city centre.<\/p>\n<h2>Castles<\/h2>\n<p>The most famous Aosta Valley castles are just a step away from Le Coffret:\u00a0<strong>F\u00e9nis<\/strong>, the most typical feudal castle, with its towers and battlement walls;\u00a0<strong>Issogne<\/strong>, with a wide range of frescos reproducing everyday life scenes from Middle Age and Renaissance;\u00a0<strong>Verr\u00e8s<\/strong>, mighty cubical building on the rocks.<\/p>\n<h2>Tastings<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Raw ham<\/strong>\u00a0produced by Saint-Marcel ham factory and\u00a0<strong>spirits<\/strong>\u00a0produced in La Valdotaine distillery only represent the beginning of a tour through Aosta Valley typical savours, which of course include the original\u00a0<strong>Fontina DOP cheese<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>wines trail<\/strong>. We will be happy to suggest some tasty restaurants in the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<h2>To visit<\/h2>\n<p>The ancient Saint-Marcel mines are open for visitors. Plout Notre Dame de Tout Pouvoir, the Sanctuary dedicated to Mary, one of the most worshipped in Aosta Valley, is just 4 km away from Le Coffret.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-349-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-349-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-349-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" >\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><h2>Winter sports<\/h2>\n<p>Pila, one of the most important ski resorts in Aosta Valley, with its 70 km long slopes, can be reached through the lifts which are just 8 kilometers away from Le Coffret.<br \/>\nSnowboard, ski touring, heliski, off-piste skiing with expert alpine guides and masters of skiing: with the highest, most famous and most beautiful mountains in the Alps, winter sports have no limits in Aosta Valley.
